June 2021

Friday 18th June

In our Food and Drinks topic in DT we have been learning more about the humble potato. We first looked at it's lifecycle - some of us were surprised that potato plants have flowers! We then moved on to making potato wedges! We talked about how to be safe and hygenic, and how to use the bridge and claw technique when cutting potatoes.

Thursday 17th June

In Science we have started our 'Big Build' topic by investigating ways to strengthen bridges. We discussed the different types of bridge and talked about the idea of triangles being one of the best shapes to use in construction.

Wednesday 16th June

Today Barn Owls had a visitor from Stowmarket library who talked to us about the importance of reading, the Summer Reading Challenge and read a few performance poems to us. We liked doing the actions to the poem and asked lots of great questions to the librarian too.

Tuesday 8th June

Beach Day! To kick start our Geography topic 'Do you like to be beside the seaside?' the children enjoyed playing on Trinity beach. They had a sandcastle competition, made their own kites, played in the paddling pools and coloured their own rock friends.
