How we form our letters!
We have been working really hard on our letter formation. Below are some videos to help you see how we form our letters correctly!
Before we start writing we have to make sure we are holding our pencil correctly. We can check that we have the correct pencil grip, by using our crocodile fingers, to 'snap and flick' the pencil!
How to hold a pencil!
A
Start at the top, big round belly, up, down, flick!
B
Start at the top, down, back up to half way, round belly, stop!
C
Start at the top, go around, stop!
D
Start in the middle, go around like a curly c, go all the way up to the top, come down and flick!
E
Start in the middle, across, over the top, down and around!
F
Start at the top, go up and over the top, down and flick. Pencil off, line across!
G
Start at the top, go around like a curly c, up, down and flick under the line!
H
Start at the top, go down, back up to the middle, over the top, down and flick!
I
Start at the top, down, flick, pencil off, dot!
J
Start at the top, go all the way down, under the line and flick, pencil off and dot!
K
Start at the top, down, come back up to the middle, make a big round belly, and flick out.
L
Start at the top, down, flick!
M
Start at the top, go down come back up and over, go back up and over again, and flick!
N
Start at the top, go down, come back up, over and flick!
O
Start at the top, go all the way around and stop!
P
Start at the top, go down under the line, come back up to the top, make a round belly that sits on the line, and stop!
Q
Start at the top, go around like a curly c, down under the line and make a pointy flick!
R
Start at the top, go down, back up and over, then stop!
S
Start at the top, go around like a c, then make a big belly and stop!
T
Start at the top, go down and flick, pencil off and line across!
U
Start at the top, go down, under back up, down, and flick!
V
Start at the top, make a diagonal line down, and make a diagonal line back up in the other direction!
W
Start at the top, make a diagonal line down, and back up, and repeat!
X
Start at the top, go down and accrues, pencil off, start at the top go down and across in the other direction!
Y
Start at the top, go down under and back up to make a u, go all the way down under the line, and flick!
Z
Start at the top, draw a straight line across, go down diagonally and back across the line!
