Anti-bullying week:

This week we have been focusing on being united to beat bullying.  We brought anti-bullying ideas into our Computing focus week, designing toys with an anti-bullying message.

We have started to learn about fractions, and created posters showing the different fractions of objects which were a certain colour.

We started looking at classifications, and created our own keys to classify animals into their different animal groups.  We practiced first on sorting chocolate biscuits according to their features, before using these skills to sort the animals.

Welcome back to a new half term!

This week we have been data collecting, and creating bar graphs from the information we gathered.  We took advantage of the fine weather, and created a tally chart of how many birds we could see in a 10 minute period.  We then created bar graphs from the data we collected.

We have been looking at different prefixes, investigating what they mean, and discovering how they change root words.  We played a prefix partner game, to match up prefixes with root words to create a new word.  We came up with some great new words!

We have started finding out about where we live, and have labelled the 7 continents, 5 oceans, the UK and the Equator on a world map.   We have some exciting plans for using these maps - watch this space to find out more .... !

In RE we are continuing the theme of 'Inspirational People', focusing on Islam, and have started finding out about the Prophet Muhammad.  We talked about how he was chosen to be God's final messenger.  We discussed the kind of messages we would give the world and wrote some of our own.

We then created decorative copies of Muhammad's name in Arabic.
